Marika Mgebrishvili, the head of „Society Biliki“, opened the conference and welcomed participants.
Marcela Hajtmankova from Slovakia also welcomed the participants, she emphasized the successful implementation of the project and the importance of the discussions held on the issues of people with disabilities.
Marika Mgebrishvili provided the presentation of the project and the video shots prepared within the project with the participation of people with disabilities talking about their challenges.
The conference participants were also acquainted with Slovak partners’ experience. Elena Koptsova and Martin Mnahonchak, who arrived from Slovakia to participate in the conference, shared the policy and best practices for the employment of people with disabilities with the participants.
Panel discussions were interesting; the participants discussed the challenges and successes in terms of the employment of persons with disabilities, and the activities of the councils of persons with disabilities in the target municipalities.
Ana Bakradze, a journalist of “Kartli News” prepared a video where disabled people themselves talk about the role of local media in advocating the issues of people with disabilities and raising public awareness.
Natia Ukhurgunashvili, a representative of the business, spoke about the social responsibility of the hypermarket “Carrefour” which has about five years of experience in the employment of people with disabilities.
Representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations working on the issues of people with disabilities, the State Supported Employment Agency, businesses and the Media representatives participated in the conference
The conference was held in the framework of the project “Supported Employment and Optimization of Services in the Labour Policy in Georgia 2” implemented by “Society Biliki” and the Slovak organization TENENET with the financial support of Slovak Aid.
